The 2008 Asia Pacific Regional Rounds had 39 teams from Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan and Singapore. The Regional Rounds were held from 7 to 12 April 2008 in Sydney, Australia.
The preliminary rounds were held in the Sydney offices of Blake Dawson and Clayton Utz, with 17 teams participating. An additional 8 teams participated in the Indian Domestic Funding Rounds.
In the first set of quarter-finals held in the morning of Friday, 11 April 2008, held at Clayton Utz, National University of Singapore (1) defeated the University of Sydney of Australia (8), Murdoch University of Australia (2) defeated Bangalore University Law College of India (8). In the second set of quarter-finals, the National Law Institute University of India (4) was upset by the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences of India (5) while the Beijing Institute of Technology of China (3) was upset by the University of New South Wales of Australia (6).
In closely-contested semi-finals held in the afternoon of Friday, 11 April 2008, the National University of Singapore defeated the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences while the University of New South Wales defeated Murdoch University.
The 2008 Regional Final was held on the afternoon of Saturday, 12 April 2008, at the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology, Sydney, as adjudicated by Mr. Ian Awford, Prof. David Flint A.M. and Mr. Angus Macinnis. In that round, the University of New South Wales narrowly defeated the National University of Singapore and will represent this region in the world finals to be held in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
