2004 Asia Pacific Regional Winner    

 

THE 2004 ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL ROUNDS

The 2004 Asia Pacific Regional Rounds had 21 teams from Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. There was an Indian National Funding Rounds for the first time in Bangalore, India. The Regional Round was held from 30 March to 3 April 2004 in Sydney.

The preliminary rounds were held in the offices of Blake Dawson Waldron and Ebsworth & Ebsworth. In the first set of quarter-finals, held at Blake Dawson Waldron, the National University of Juridical Sciences (1) defeated the University of Sydney (8) and the National University of Singapore (2) defeated the University of New South Wales (7). The upsets were in the other two quarter-finals, with the National Law School of India University (5) defeating the University of Western Sydney (4) and the University of Queensland (6) defeating Tsinghua University (3).

In the semi-finals, the University of Queensland was defeated by the National University of Singapore. In the other, all-Indian, semi-final, the National Law School of India University narrowly defeated the National University of Juridical Sciences.

The 2004 regional final was held in the Banco Court of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. The National Law School of India University defeated the National University of Singapore and went on to be a semi-finalist in the world finals held in Vancouver, Canada, later that year.
