Each year, the American Association of I.I.S.L. Members organises the North American Regional Round of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition. The North American Regional Round has been held annually since 1992 (as the United States Round), with teams invited from Canada and Mexico for the first time in 2003.

The 2009 North American Regional Round was held at the Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C., the United States, on Saturday, 4 April 2009. The winner, Georgetown University, will contest the World Finals to be held in Daejeon, Republic of Korea, in October 2009.
